Class is done, but the learning isn't

  • Mar. 30th, 2009 at 8:42 AM

My Empowering Character Emotions class is now finished.  The aftershocks, however, are not.  I am working with my editing partner from class, and we will be working through all of the pertinent assignments together over the next month or so.  She is taking the Deep Edits class in May, as well, and we will maintain our partnership through that class, and possibly even beyond.

I enjoyed the class, even though it was tough for me to handle sometimes.  It brought to glaring light exactly what I didn't know about writing a good book.  I still have a lot to learn, but at least now I have more tools to play with.

Now that class is over, I have no more excuses for not working on my WIP.  I want to have the rough draft completed here pretty soon, and to do that I need to move forward on it.  I've delayed chapter 16 now for a month.  I can't keep doing that and get done before summer.  So...the goal for this week is to complete all of chapter 16, and start on chapter 17.

I'll let y'all know how it goes.  :D

Hi Stefanie! It's Sarah. I definitely understand how you feel. The aftershocks of the class haven't passed for me either. We will definitely work together on the assignments in April. At times it was hard for me to handle as well. My goal for the week is to start editing my novel. Although, maybe I should focus on reading the lectures again, but I really want to feel like I'm making progress on it. :D

Same here. I need to re-read, but I want to get chapter 16 done first, and at least started on chapter 17 before I start reviewing the lectures again. Beginning next week, I think I will set aside 1 day to deal with the lectures and assignments. The rest of the days will be spent with completing the 1st draft.
